Industrial Design Master’s Project
Improving the Experience of Dog Ownership
This project aims to answer the question: “Can we mitigate some of the negative aspects of dog ownership through design to increase the positive relationship between dog and owner?” Ethnographic research was conducted to understand the problem space and identify key pain points and insights. This research led to idea generation that was focused on allowing owners to connect and play with their pets while away from home. Promising ideas were identified through iterative feedback sessions which led to the prototyping and testing of several concepts. The initial concept is a remote, interactive toy toss product that allows owners to play and interact while away. A physical device and app interface were prototyped and evaluated by users to measure success and gather feedback for future works.
